Ty Cwm Gwendraeth is a purpose built 49 bed nursing care facility, comprising of 5 separate smaller buildings and registered under RISCA by CIW.
We are able to provide care and support for adults over 18 years with:
- A primary diagnosis of Acquired Brain injury requiring nursing care.
- A primary diagnosis of Dementia/Mental Infirmity requiring nursing care.
- A primary diagnosis of Learning Disability requiring nursing care.
- General nursing and/or personal care needs.
The Service is managed by Sue Lewis-Ball, who is a Registered General Nurse and experienced Registered Manager.

Learning Disabilities Unit – In September 2021 we opened our new accommodation (Amman) and support services specifically for people with Learning Disabilities at Ty Cwm Gwendraeth. The accommodation comprises of 8 single en-suite spacious bedrooms, ample day space, enclosed gardens and have been specifically designed to support the needs of service users with complex learning disabilities.
We are in the process of converting one further building to accommodate 7 individual one bed apartments with lounge/diner, en-suite bedroom, with some shared lounges in the building. This new development will provide additional flexibility and will be ideal for individuals who require full care and support from our skilled teams while residing in their own individual spaces.

Canolfan – our Purpose built club house located on site at Ty Cwm Gwendraeth, has a large multi-function room with bar, separate hydrotherapy pool, gym, consultation/meeting rooms and all our services users have full access to these facilities.
We are currently working towards the BILD and Headway Accreditations at Ty Cwm Gwendraeth.
Training
Ty Cwm Gwendraeth offers a range of mandatory and special interest training programs and opportunities for gaining additional knowledge and skills.
There are pathways for professional development and progression in a culture of continued learning.
There is both in house and training department consisting of face-to-face and e-learning platforms, in addition to our joint working with RCN Wales and other external providers.
